CINEA’s involvement in COP26 Climate Change Conference

EU at COP26

The 2021 UN climate change conference (COP26) is scheduled to take place from 31 October to 12 November 2021 in Glasgow, under the presidency of the UK. The EU and its Member States will take part as Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

CINEA is organising a number of side events both onsite at the EU pavilion in Glasgow, in Brussels and online, in collaboration with EU-funded Horizon 2020 and LIFE projects in the area of Climate Action.

Furthermore, CINEA in cooperation with the DG for Climate Action is organising the signature ceremony for the first small-scale projects funded under the Innovation Fund, one of the world’s largest funding programmes for the demonstration of innovative clean technologies.

CINEA is hosting a virtual stand, where visitors will find relevant information about the programmes the agency is managing to contribute to the EU Green Deal.

All events over the two weeks can be followed online by registering on cop26eusideevents.eu

Background

The COP26 brings together governments from around the world to agree coordinated action to tackle climate change. The conference is also a space for governments, businesses, local authorities and civil society to discuss and showcase climate action.

EU side events (1-12 November 2021)

The European Union, like in previous years, provides a space for side events seeking to stimulate the debate on key thematic areas, facilitating dialogue with Party delegates and other participants, as well as launching new initiatives and partnerships and showcasing inspiring and successful projects or policies.

This year, the EU Pavilion programme will include physical side events in Glasgow, a studio in Brussels, as well as digital side events. All events will be accessible through an online platform to reach out to broader audiences around the globe and allow enhanced virtual participation.
