Out of the 166 applications, 69 will be selected as EUCF beneficiaries and receive a lump sum of EUR 60,000 each for the development of investment concepts for their local sustainable energy projects. These concepts will address technical, financial, economic, market- and stakeholder-related analyses, as well as legal aspects to open the door to different sources of funding for the follow-up investments. The EUCF grant does not directly finance these investments, but provides funds to access expertise and services for the development of the investment concepts.
Next steps
The EUCF evaluation team will now evaluate the submitted applications and select the 69 best applicants. The evaluation is based on five criteria: investment size, energy savings, governance structure, stakeholder engagement and alignment with EUCF objectives. The results will be communicated to the selected applicants at the end of February and published in spring 2022.
European City Facility
The European City Facility, funded under the Horizon 2020 programme, is managed by a consortium led by Energy Cities. It supports cities and municipalities across Europe to develop investment concepts with the aim to mobilise sustainable energy investments and deliver on the European Green Deal.
