In the week 21-25 June, three EMFF projects dealing with marine litter had their final events.
BLUENET, NetTag, and OCEANETS started in January 2019 to respond with technological and non-technological solutions to the increasing presence in our seas and oceans of marine litter.
The projects developed innovative ways for recycling marine debris to produce new fishing gears and fabric, and designed devices to prevent and detect the loss of fishing tackle. In addition, they established new ways of collaborating with fishers and the aquaculture sector, in order to co-design their novel answers to the problem.
If you want to know more about these and other pioneering initiatives supported by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, have a look at the projects featured on CINEA's website.
