Webinar: Development and replication of “in-land” and “on-island” renewable energy communities in Europe

The webinar ‘Development and replication of “in-land” and “on-island” renewable energy communities in Europe’, held on 29 April 2025, will focus on citizen-led renewable energy initiatives

The webinar, organised by LIFE projects Power-e-com and ISLET, will spotlight the growing impact of citizen-led renewable energy initiatives across Europe. These communities, backed by local and regional authorities, are key players in the continent's energy transition, enabling citizens to generate, own and benefit from local renewable energy sources. The session will present a variety of case studies—from established continental projects to nascent initiatives on Mediterranean islands—highlighting the diverse paths and strategies of renewable energy community development.

The webinar will include contributions from experts on successful implementations and replication strategies in countries like Austria, Spain, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy and Greece. Key topics will cover national support schemes, challenges in island contexts and the European Energy Communities Facility—an initiative offering funding and capacity-building resources. With presentations from stakeholders including FEDARENE, CINEA, ESCAN, and DAFNI, participants will gain practical insights into fostering community-led renewable energy and scaling efforts across varied European regions.
