On 20 February, the Renewables Grid Initiative hosted the "Shared Airspace Webinar”. The webinar focused on the transition to a renewables-based energy system by 2050 and the potential impact on bird species.

The webinar organised by the Renewables Grid Initiative discussed the need for data access, consistent funding, and robust legislative frameworks to mitigate the risks posed by the expanding electricity grid infrastructure.

It also showcased the efforts and best practices of two LIFE projects dedicated to mitigating bird mortality: LIFE Danube Free Sky and LIFE SafeLines4Birds. These projects focus on preventing unnecessary fatalities and injuries among wild bird species resulting from electrocution and collisions with power lines in Europe.

The event wrapped up with a Q&A session.
