RedBosques_Clima webinar: Forest adaptation to climate change from Mediterranean region perspective

This will be held on 18 February, focusing on forest management and conservation challenges in Southern Europe amid climate change.

The webinar will highlight the European Union’s forest restoration policies, which often focus on planting new trees, neglecting the importance of managing existing forest stands and improving their heterogeneity and diversity—a more suitable approach for Mediterranean forests from an adaptation perspective. The goal of the webinar is to discuss the management and conservation challenges Mediterranean forests face in the current climate change scenario and to promote the exchange of experiences and scientific knowledge to inform decision-making.

The session will start with an introduction to the LIFE RedBosques_Clima project, followed by a discussion on the priorities for adapting Mediterranean forests to climate change. This will be followed by a presentation on the LIFE Resland project, which focuses on climate change adaptation for Mediterranean forests. Next, there will be a presentation of the key forest management challenges in the region, as identified by the LIFE GoProForMed project. The event will conclude with an open discussion with participants, moderated by an expert.
