The Covenant of Mayors Europe hosted an in-person event to showcase how cities were tackling their dependence on fossil fuels through innovative partnerships and projects in areas such as street lighting, housing, and district heating and cooling.
Co-organised with the Smart EPC project (Horizon 2020) and the Smart Cities Marketplace, the event provided a unique platform for cities, private investors, companies, and financing institutions to come together and share insights, tools, and methodologies.
Participants explored inspirational case studies that demonstrated how cities were achieving climate neutrality in public lighting, housing, and district energy systems through collaboration with private-sector partners. The event also included hands-on training sessions, offering practical methodologies, frameworks, and tools to support the implementation of Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs).
Additionally, the event provided valuable networking opportunities, enabling attendees to engage with peers, private-sector experts, and representatives from public institutions, fostering the exchange of diverse approaches to achieving fossil-free cities.
