International Symposium: Violet Copper, climate change and nature conservation

The event held on 22 and 23 May 2025, will focus on the distribution and conservation of the Violet Copper butterfly (Lycaena helle) in the context of climate change and habitat protection across Europe.

The event, organised by LIFE-Patches & Corridors, will focus on the distribution of Lycaena helle across Europe and explore conservation strategies in the face of climate change. Experts will present research on butterfly population trends, habitat threats, and adaptation measures. Two excursions will provide participants with the opportunity to visit typical Violet Copper habitats in the Northern Eifel.

The symposium will take place at the Aukloster in Monschau (Germany) and will be available for hybrid participation with simultaneous German-English translation. Attendance is free, but registration is required by 28 March, 2025, due to a limit of 80 participants. A livestream link will be shared before the event. The programme includes expert presentations, discussions, and field trips, offering a comprehensive insight into butterfly conservation amidst environmental challenges.
