This online Info Day presented the latest call for proposals on smart specialisation for regional flagships projects supporting sustainable blue economy in EU sea basins for smart specialisation, as well regenerative ocean farming and algae innovation. The call is funded under the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF). The call is open until 18 February 2025 with a budget of EUR 5.7 million.

This Info Day explained the policy context to potential applicants, and present the objectives and scope of the call, which includes two topics on:
- Maritime regional cooperation fostering Smart Specialisation and Innovation in the Sustainable Blue Economy
This topic aims to support and animate the Smart Specialisation (S3) thematic platform for sustainable blue economy, in one or more of the following sectors: fisheries, aquaculture, marine renewable energy, blue biotechnology, coastal and maritime tourism.
- Demonstrating feasibility and environmental benefits of regenerative ocean farming and boosting algae innovation
This topic aims to prove the feasibility and viability of setting up and operating ocean farms across various EU marine regions.
The session further explained the call conditions and how to apply, including tips and tricks to improve your proposal.
