Horizon Energy: MATRYCS - Big Data for smart buildings

Emerging from the Horizon2020 MATRYCS project, the Big Data Alliance (BDA) is a structured collaborative space for selected and active stakeholders that together will try to solve the practical challenges relating to building lifecycle management by combining meaningful data sets and using Artificial Intelligence and data analytics. 

MATRYCS is a co-funded European project dedicated to the usage of Big Data and AI to decrease the energy building consumption. The most promising result of the project is the, so called, MATRYCS Modular Toolbox, it realizes a holistic, state-of-the-art AI-empowered framework for decision-support models, data analytics and visualisations for Digital Building Twins. The BDA conducted many initiatives to creating as many links as possible with other projects, initiatives, industry associations and companies that could benefit from MATRYCS findings and data. The emphasis was given on other Big Data related projects, Big Data Alliance members and Smart Energy Cluster tackling smart solutions regarding energy efficiency in buildings and similar topics.

The Big Data Alliance is based on the engagement of key stakeholder groups and the unique value they provide and receive to and from one another. Initially designed to focus on buildings, the Alliance is also open to growth and the inclusion of other thematic clusters - such as energy, water or transport - that follow the same processes, ultimately covering multiple sustainable urban development domains. Demand-driven stakeholders of data-analytics solutions for building management steer the agenda by defining challenges to be solved by the Alliance. Data set and solution providers collaborate with these demand-driven stakeholders on the co-creation of solutions.
