FLEXCoop

Democratising energy markets.

FLEXCoop

FLEXCoop introduces an end-to-end Automated Demand Response Optimization Framework. It defines new business models, respective rules, standardised contracts and technological tools to enable energy cooperatives to undertake the aggregator role and bid the huge flexibility potential of their prosumers/members (mainly residential prosumers) in energy markets.

Results of the project are the introduction of novel technologies and value-adding tools to enable the optimised orchestration between demand, generation and storage assets both within energy cooperatives’ microgrids, but also as part of the overall distribution grid. The goal is to ultimately ensure maximum integration of intermittent RES in electricity grids and avoidance of their curtailment through optimised and human-centric demand shifting and storage.

The main expected impact is a reduced dependency of district heating and/or cooling systems on fossil fuels and reduced greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions.
