Overview of the state of data collection and scientific advice in the EU ORs, with case study on a roadmap towards regular stock assessment in French Guiana

The study was implemented through the FWC for the Studies providing scientific advice support of the CFP in EU waters, excluding Mediterranean and Black Sea - Lot 2: scientific advice support of the CFP in the Atlantic EU western waters and the EU ORs (EASME/EMFF/2018/011).

This study provides an overview of the state of data collection and scientific advice in the European Union outermost regions (OR). For each OR, the report identifies stocks and fisheries relevant to the Data Collection Framework (DCF), the institutions and their organisation, as well as the funding structures. The report develops OR-specific SWOTs, and then a broad synthesis SWOT to allow identification of the actions that will achieve maximum positive impact and the best way to implement them. A case study in support of establishing regular stock assessment of the red snapper in French Guiana’s waters concludes the report.
