LIFE projects added to Innovation Radar platform

More than 100 LIFE programme innovations have, for the first time, been included in the European Commission’s Innovation Radar platform.

Innovation Radar platform

The Innovation Radar is a European Commission initiative to identify high potential innovations and innovators in EU-funded projects.  The platform currently showcases around 7 600 EU-funded innovations, with more being added all the time.

Examples of LIFE projects now on the platform include Spain’s MycoRestore, which develops new services for sustainable forestry management. Germany’s CLEANAIRMM is another whose innovation comprises portable batteries that can store up to 2kWh of energy.

Also, LIFE beneficiary madebymade was one of three winners in the Innovation Radar’s Dealflow.eu ‘Best EU-backed sustainable start-ups’ award. The company was selected for its LIFE Waste2Protein project.

Being featured on the Innovation Radar platform is expected to increase the visibility of LIFE innovations and support both their access to the market and their subsequent use across multiple sectors.

LIFE projects have always been innovative. And they have become increasingly important at a time when innovative green technologies could be key to solving critical environmental and climate problems. They really do support the European Green Deal’s implementation,’ said Angelo Salsi, Head of Department at the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA).

This welcome news should help many companies involved in LIFE projects bring their green products, technologies, services and processes to the market, leading to multiple environmental, economic and social benefits,’ added Solon Mias, project manager at CINEA.

The LIFE programme’s inclusion on the platform was made possible through excellent collaboration between the European Commission’s Innovation Radar team and the LIFE’s Close-to-Market (C2M) team.
