The European Commission has revealed the jury members for the LIFE Awards 2021. This 15th edition of the Awards recognises excellence in three categories: nature protection, environment and climate action. The three jury members are:
- Bas Eickhout - Member of the European Parliament, vice-chair of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety
- Ester Asin - Director at WWF European Policy Office
- Janez Potočnik - Former European Commissioner for the Environment, co-chair of the International Resource Panel (IRP)
A ceremony announcing the winners will take place on 2 June as part of EU Green Week.

As previously announced, the 15 finalists for this year’s LIFE Awards are:

LIFE-GREEN4GREY Green and blue infrastructure enhancing biodiversity and curbing climate change
LIFE ElClimA An improved habitat and existence for the Eleonora’s falcon
LIFE ENERGY Helping birds to avoid colliding with power lines
Lille Vildmose Restoring the largest raised bog in lowland northwest Europe
TARTALIFE Preventing sea turtles from getting caught up in fishing nets
Environment:
Hg-rid-LIFE Reducing poisonous mercury emissions from dental clinics
LIFE+ INADAR Boosting biodiversity on riverbanks near hydropower stations
LIFE Impetus Reducing pharmaceutical compounds from urban wastewater treatment plants
LIFE REUSING POSIDONIA Using dried seagrass as an effective and inexpensive thermal housing insulation
LIFE TRiFOCAL London Communications campaign to prevent food waste, promote healthy eating, and encourage food waste recycling
Climate action:
LIFE - CLEAN HEAT Reducing emissions like soot and smoke coming from private wood burning
LIFE ADAPT2CLIMA Helping Mediterranean farmers to adapt to climate change
LIFE FORECCAsT Helping foresters put in place climate change adaptation strategies
LIFE FRANCA Making the shift from flood response to flood prevention in the Italian Alps
