The Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) was launched in 2014 to fund transport, energy, and digital infrastructure projects in Europe. Since then, it has supported thousands of projects with billions of Euro in EU support and it has been instrumental in promoting growth, jobs and competitiveness through infrastructure investment for modern connected networks at European level.
The CEF benefits people across all Member States, as it makes travel easier, smarter, safer, and more sustainable. It enhances Europe’s energy safety and security while contributing to the energy transition by focusing on green infrastructure and renewable energy generation. It facilitates cross-border interaction between public administrations, businesses, and citizens.
To celebrate CEF’s tenth birthday, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) will launch various communication activities during 2024 to stress how this funding instrument has been fundamental in modernising European infrastructure for transport and energy, and highlight the programme’s various achievements in these sectors.
What to look out for during 2024
The celebration will focus on highlighting the diverse and impactful projects supported, as well as the positive effects these are having on citizens and businesses.
