Last week CINEA took part in the European Maritime Day 2023 in Brest, France to discuss funding opportunities and giving the possibility to some remarkable EU-funded projects to present their contribution for a sustainable blue economy. Around 1,500 people took part in the Conference, where ‘Ocean Leaders Meet’.
CINEA had a very central European Stand where hundreds of visitors were able to learn more about the European funding opportunities and initiatives in the blue economy. More details can be found in the event section below.
Fourteen project beneficiaries also presented their innovative ideas about green shipping, sustainable aquaculture, offshore renewables and environmental protection in an engaging way.
This year, CINEA also counted on two other Executive Agencies – REA and EISMEA – to bring on projects and present some of the most relevant funding instruments.
Workshops and Sessions
In the morning of 24 May, CINEA organised a pitching session about “Funding opportunities for Blue SMEs, highly innovative & breakthrough technologies”. It included the BLUEINVEST platform, the GREEN ASSIST advisory services, the Innovation Fund and the European Innovation Council Accelerator and Transition schemes. Bound4Blue also explained how different EU instruments contributed to the growth of their company.
In the afternoon, CINEA presented a snapshot of available funding opportunities targeted to the maritime stakeholders from different EU Programmes (Horizon Europe, EMFAF, CEF and LIFE).
On 25 May, CINEA held a workshop in the Plenary Hall titled “EMD Cities Network - EU projects accelerating the energy transition”. This workshop demonstrated how EU funded projects and programmes managed by CINEA make a consistent contribution to deliver the European Green Deal and the Fitfor55 package objectives.
Finally, CINEA discussed how to advance gender equality in the blue economy during a pitching session, where it officially launched two new EMFAF-funded projects on Women in the blue economy.
Au revoir, Brest and see you next year in Svendborg on 30 and 31 May!
