In the context of the European Green Deal and REPowerEU, EU Member States have given the green light to a Commission proposal to invest EUR 593.87 million of EU funds in developing cross-border energy infrastructure projects that contribute to the development of the TEN-E networks.
CINEA received a total of 13 proposals, requesting approximately EUR 1.86 billion in support for the development of energy infrastructure. Eight projects have been selected to receive a grant under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for trans-European energy networks.
The selected projects cover both works (6) and studies (2) in the fields of electricity, gas, CO2 and smart grids. They involve 10 different countries, with 5 ( 4 works and 1 study) of the 8 projects focusing on CO2 networks, for which the funding allocated is EUR 479.5 million.
The formal adoption of the decision by the European Commission on the selection of proposals and award of grants for action will follow in the coming weeks.
