Wetlands Day celebration at Oroklini lake, Cyprus

World Wetlands Day, celebrated on 2 February, is an opportunity to reflect on the vital role wetlands play in the environment and human wellbeing. It also serves as a chance to raise public awareness about the importance of conserving and sustainably managing wetlands. On this occasion, the LIFE project Pandoteira organised the following activities around Oroklini Lake: 

• Birdwatching 

• Exploring water invertebrates 

• Arts & crafts for kids 

• A short walk at the lake. 

The activities commenced at 9:00 at the Oroklini Lake main bird hide. They were coordinated by Terra Cypria and executed with the support of representatives from the Department of Environment, Game and Fauna Service, BirdLife Cyprus, and the Federation of Environmental Organizations of Cyprus.
