LIFE Programme at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28)

The COP28, which has been held annually since 1992, represents one of the biggest occasions for governments to agree on policies to limit global temperature rises and adapt to impacts associated with climate change.

The United Arab Emirates will be hosting the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference. The event will take place at the Expo City in Dubai, which will be composed of two zones: the Blue Zone, a UNFCCC-managed site open to accredited party and observer delegates where formal negotiations will take place; and the Green Zone, open to non-accredited delegates, including youth groups, civil society, NGOs, the private sector, and indigenous groups to have their voices heard, promoting dialogue and awareness about climate action.  

LIFE participation 

Side events will take place during the whole duration of the event. Five LIFE projects will organise and hold side events in the EU Pavilion and Italian Pavilion. Find here more details below:

• LIFE CLIMATE SMART CHEFS - Empowering chefs for a climate-smart, sustainable and healthy food system in the EU. (EU Pavilion, 12 December) 

• LIFE COSTAdapta - Addressing the adaptation of the coast of Gran Canaria (Spain) to sea level rise. (they are present at the Startup Village - Kiosk #46)

• LIFE VIIEW 2050 - Towards a Climate-Neutral Economy: The Role of Carbon Pricing in Moving the Industry Closer to Net -Zero by 2050. (EU Pavillion, 9th December 2023 17-18.00)
