Since the presentation of the Schuman Declaration on 9 May 1950, the European Union has grown to become a symbol of strength and unity. To celebrate all that we have achieved in this time, this ‘Europe Day’ the Commission organised a day of activities, learning and family fun right in the heart of Brussels.
The Berlaymont – one of the Commission’s most iconic buildings – was open to the public on Saturday 4 May from 10:00–18:00.
In CINEA, we were happy to be involved in the celebrations as part of the Our Sustainable Future village where we showcased our activities in the field of clean energy.
Participants were invited to explore our villages, the history of the EU, our values, and the achievements of the European Commission. The event provided a look behind the scenes and showcased how we’re building a strong, diverse, democratic and digital EU that stands by its people, and is committed to building a greener future and a resilient economy.
For EU citizens getting ready to vote in the upcoming European elections, there was information available to help you make the most of your vote.
Visitors could stop by Experience Europe, a family-friendly immersive exhibition that shines a light on the history and values that shape the past, present and future of the EU.
