On 7 December, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) and the European Commission's DG Climate Action organised an info day to present the Innovation Fund 2023 Call (IF23 Call).
The IF23 Call was launched on 23 November with a budget of €4 billion, from revenues from the EU Emissions Trading System. This new call is open to small, medium, and large-scale projects and covers sectors including decarbonisation, cleantech manufacturing, maritime and energy-intensive industries. The application window will be open until 9 April 2024.
The info day guides the participants through all the novelties of this call, and presents lessons learned from previous calls. Additionally, during the event, participants have the opportunity to ask questions via Slido using #IF23Call.

Description
With a revenue of €40 billion from 2020 to 2030 from the EU Emissions Trading System, the Innovation Fund aims to create financial incentives for companies and public authorities to invest in cutting-edge low-carbon technologies and support Europe's transition to climate neutrality.
On 23 November 2023, the Commission will launch two new calls for proposals to accelerate the deployment of innovative technologies in Europe: the Innovation Fund 2023 Call (IF23 Call) and the Innovation Fund 2023 Auction (IF23 Auction). The info day for the IF23 Auction takes place on 30 November 2023, at 10.00 am (Brussels time).
The Innovation Fund has already secured about €6.5 billion for cleantech projects through its previous calls for proposals. Auctions (also called competitive bidding) are a new support mechanism to foster faster and more cost-efficient support for the roll-out of low-carbon technologies.
