The EU Green Deal sets ambitious policy targets, supported by research and innovation funding under the "Green Deal call" to accelerate the sustainable transition in ports and airports.
Ports are vital in the global supply chain, connecting regions and facilitating the movement of goods. They drive innovation and economic growth but face challenges in decarbonisation and reducing environmental impact while remaining competitive. Airports, similarly, play a key role in connecting people across regions, emphasising the human aspect of travel and logistics, while also grappling with the need to cut emissions and manage sustainability costs.
MAGPIE, OLGA, PIONEERS, STARGATE and TULIPS are five flagship projects funded under the EU's research and innovation programme, Horizon 2020, dedicated to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in ports and airports. These innovative projects aim to address decarbonisation challenges by demonstrating new technologies, establishing sustainable business models, and planning to scale up these innovations across Europe.

Description
Under the theme Sustainable Journeys, Shared Futures, the Seas to Skies Conference will reveal key results from the projects, barriers they have faced, and shared insights. We will discuss commonalities between port and airport ecosystems, implementation challenges and strategies for transferring innovations across industries.
The programme will feature presentations and discussions on critical topics for greening ports and airports, including alternative fuels to smart energy management, digitising mobility and the modal shift.
Complementing the main programme, demos will be presented in the marketplace, providing an opportunity to interact with the partners of the five consortia.
CINEA's Director, Paloma Aba Garrote will give the keynote speech on the second day, 4 December, with several CINEA representatives moderating different sessions across the programme.
