How you can make use of the public sector loan facility under the Just Transition Mechanism

CINEA will participate in this year’s European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) together with the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) to present the public sector loan facility (PSLF) under the Just Transition Mechanism (JTM)

The presentation will cover the policy context of the facility, its main features, as well as insights into how to receive the grant from the European Commission and the loan from the EIB available under the PSLF. At the end of the session, the participants will also have the possibility to address their questions to the speakers from CINEA, DG REGIO and EIB.

The public sector loan facility is the third pillar of the Just Transition Mechanism, a key tool to ensure that the transition towards a climate-neutral economy happens in a fair way, leaving no one behind. The facility supports projects addressing social, environmental and economic challenges deriving from the transition to the Union’s climate target objectives and will mobilise investments with the support of the European Investment Bank (EIB).

EIB loans (up to EUR 10 billion) and EU grants (up to EUR 1.5 billion) will help public sector entities in the most affected regions to meet their development needs in the transition towards a climate-neutral economy. Any public sector entity wishing to finance a project located in, or benefitting a just transition territory may submit a proposal through the call for proposals published on 19 July.

EUSEW is the biggest event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe. It brings together policymakers, stakeholders, and citizens to find secure, clean and efficient energy solutions to tackle tomorrow’s challenges. This year the Policy Conference of EUSEW 2022 will take place between 26 and 29 September. The EUSEW extended programme will take place in the week prior to EUSEW 2022 on 19-23 September. How you can make use of the public sector loan facility under the Just Transition Mechanism session will be part of the extended programme.
