ePLANET Final Event – How to accelerate the deployment of Energy Transition to fulfil the 2030 and 2050 Energy Goals

The ePLANET final event, hosted by the Government of Catalonia to the EU on 20 June, featured two other LIFE projects: REGIO1st and IN-PLAN.

The ePLANET final event featured a dynamic agenda with three key themes:

  1. Energy Transition Governance: Discussions covered the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans framework, the clustering governance concept from ICAEN, and insights from the IN-PLAN project on spatial planning processes.
  2. Implementing Energy Transition Actions: The REGIO1st project explained the Energy Efficiency 1st principle in regional planning. The project also highlighted the role of data in tracking the Energy Transition at the municipal level, featuring the ePLANET platform and insights from Greek partners.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement through Energy Communities: ePLANET demonstrated how data can enhance energy communities, with Czech partners sharing best practices and challenges in estimating rooftop PV potential. Reschool provided insights on engaging all citizens.

Each panel concludes with a discussion and audience questions. During the coffee break, attendees can test the ePLANET platform, demonstrated by CIMNE, the ePLANET coordinator.

About the LIFE projects:

IN-PLAN: IN-PLAN aims to empower local and regional authorities to effectively implement sustainable energy, climate, and spatial plans. This is achieved by integrating various planning tools, ensuring political commitment, and aligning measures with local budgets. Ultimately, IN-PLAN seeks to enhance the capabilities of local authorities in sustainable planning.

REGIO1st: REGIO1ST promotes the Energy Efficiency First (EE1st) principle among regional governments, offering guidance to embed EE1st in energy planning, starting with six regions and expanding to over 100 across the EU. It creates a community of practice with the Covenant of Mayors to ensure political commitment and stakeholder acceptance, reinforcing the Multilevel Climate and Energy Dialogue.
