Study on feed for aquaculture

Ensuring a competitive and resilient aquaculture sector, as outlined under the EU’s Strategic guidelines for aquaculture, cannot be unlocked without understanding the role of aquafeeds (including feed materials, compound feeds, premixtures and additives), and the factors that influence the market.

This study aimed to assess the current state of the aquafeeds for primary farmed and consumed species in the EU across key areas of policy and regulatory frameworks, market trends, traceability and transparency, alternative and emerging materials, and sustainability aspects.

To achieve this, a comprehensive literature and data review of scientific articles and pertinent grey literature, as well as consultation with key expert stakeholders across the supply chains, was conducted.
