How LIFE projects can support the European Green Deal and its various elements like the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 was the main focus.

It was agreed that LIFE projects on such pressing issues as restoring rivers, increasing connectivity, improving conservation status, developing management plans, reducing pesticide use, and removing invasive alien species, can all help implement the European Green Deal.

Overcoming challenges like negative public opinion through awareness-raising actions was also considered important.

Research was deemed pivotal for addressing a lack of data on habitats and species.  And having solid land management plans in place was also mentioned as vital for increasing connectivity.

It was agreed that involving young people and volunteers can boost LIFE projects’ impact and therefore, the European Green Deal.

Being flexible and adapting LIFE project actions to the European Green Deal’s objectives was deemed a priority.

Finally, sharing successful project results via various communication channels and across the LIFE network is critical as it can inspire others to become involved in saving the planet.
