Innovation Fund: grant agreements signed with further 16 innovative large-scale projects

The EU is investing over €62 million in 17 small-scale innovative clean-tech projects with a fourth round of awards under the EU Innovation Fund.

The European Framework Programme for R&I - Innovation Fund Synergies Workshop will be held in fully virtual format on 8 February 2023. The workshop aims to foster the potential synergies between EU R&I programmes (notably Horizon 2020) and the Innovation Fund programme.

Today, Commission is launching the third call for large-scale projects under the EU Innovation Fund. With a budget doubled to €3 billion thanks to increased revenue from the auctioning of EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) allowances.

In response to the second EU Innovation Fund call for small-scale projects, the European Commission received 66 applications for innovative clean tech projects in all eligible categories: renewable energy, energy-intensive industries, energy storage, and carbon capture, use, and storage.

The EU is investing over €1.8 billion in 17 large-scale innovative clean-tech projects under the Innovation Fund.
