The European Executive Agencies and the European Commission were in the spotlight in Ecomondo 2022 with hundreds of meetings, dozens of events and 50 projects present at the EU Stand.

Today the European Commission launched two new calls for proposals under the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) with EU funding of EUR 15.1 million. The two calls are about Blue careers and Regional flagships projects in EU sea basins.

A new Aquaculture Assistance Mechanism became operational in July 2022 to support the European Commission in the implementation of the "Strategic guidelines for a more sustainable and competitive EU aquaculture for the period 2021- 2030”.

Seven EU funded projects are kicking off to strengthen sea basin-level collaboration in the Atlantic, the Black Sea and the Western Mediterranean. 

‘Sustainable blue economy for green recovery’ was the topic of the European Maritime Day (EMD) 2022. With 750 participants in Ravenna and 800 online, EMD provided an inspiring framework to discuss the latest developments in the blue economy.

With EUR 2.5 million, this EMFAF call for proposals aims to increase the participation of women in the different sectors of the blue economy and contribute to a more gender equal society.
