A powerful collaboration to standardise the value of non-energy benefits in energy efficiency investment decisions

M-BENEFITS

The EU-funded project M-Benefits (www.mbenefits.eu) has joined efforts with the European Standardisation Body (CEN-CENELEC) to start the process for the development of a new EU standard enabling companies and organisations to identify, quantify, monetize, report and communicate the non-energy benefits of energy efficiency investments.

The experience and knowledge gained through the implementation of the M-Benefits project was shared among the CEN-CENELEC Sector Forum Energy Management and Energy Transition (SFEM) members and used as stepping stone for the proposed standard: “Values and Benefits of Decarbonisation and Energy Performance Actions. A General Framework for Assessment”.

CEN-CENELEC JTC 14 "Energy management and energy efficiency in the framework of energy transition" welcomes stakeholders support to develop the new standard enabling capacity building and market uptake. The development of the standard will start shortly after the summer break through a dedicated call for experts across Member States.

The proposed standard aims at complementing existing standards on Energy Audits, Energy Management Systems, Valuation of Energy related investments, Energy Performance Contracts to de-risk the implementation of the Green Deal.
