Today the European Commission launched a new call for proposals for a pilot project to reduce the danger of munitions dumped in European seas. The call for proposals is funded under the EU Pilot Project Funds (PPPAs) with a budget of EUR 5.59 million. It will be open from 25 June until 21 November 2024.

The call for proposals aims to build on EU initiatives to deal with chemical and explosive munitions that are currently dumped in EU sea basins. It seeks to support a project that will develop the most environmentally friendly, comprehensive and efficient technologies and methods for the removal, disposal and/or neutralisation of munitions dumped at sea.

The project should include testing new and/or improved technologies and methods in the Baltic Sea, as well as supporting stakeholder access to them, and their transfer to other European sea basins.

CINEA is organising a virtual Info Day on this call on 5 July from 10:00 until 12:00 (CEST). Speakers from CINEA and DG MARE will present the call and application process, including tips and tricks on how to write a successful proposal. Register now!
