Making Heating and Cooling Sustainable – Barriers, Solutions and Best Practices

Replace heating system

Where to start if you like to change your old fossil fuel boiler for a more efficient and sustainable option? The H2020 project REPLACE has analysed the drivers that influence our decisions when replacing heating and cooling equipment and implementing energy efficiency measures at home.

Replacing your old fossil fuel boiler for a more efficient and sustainable option is not always easy. If it is broken, you may be inclined buying quickly a similar one. If you rent your apartment, there is no guarantee that the owner will invest in the most energy-efficient option. If you live in a multi-apartment building, you may suddenly discover that national regulation poses some requirements you were not aware of.

The H2020 project REPLACE has analysed the drivers that influence our decisions, the legal and regulatory barriers, the potential solutions and the examples of best practices, when replacing heating and cooling equipment and implementing energy efficiency measures in residential buildings. The analysis covers nine different European countries: Austria, Germany, Spain, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and North Macedonia.
