The European Commission has adopted the 2023-24 work programme of Horizon Europe – the EU’s funding programme for research and innovation.

Horizon Europe Work Programme 2023-24 adopted

With a budget of around €13.5 billion, this will enable researchers and innovators in Europe to pursue breakthrough solutions for the big environmental, energy, digital and geopolitical challenges facing our economies and societies today.

This includes the specific work programme for Cluster 5-Climate, Energy and Mobility, the part of Horizon Europe managed by CINEA. The cluster aims to tackle climate change by improving understanding of its causes and impacts, and by making the energy and transport sectors more climate and environment-friendly, efficient and competitive, smarter, safer and more resilient.

Calls for proposals will be published in the EU Funding and Tender Portal from mid-December. All prospective applicants are invited to attend the virtual Cluster 5 Information Days on 15 and 16 December 2022 to find out more about the topics and how to apply.

Background

Part of the wider seven-year €95.5 billion EU research and innovation programme, the 2023-2024 work programme will contribute to the EU reaching its climate goals, increasing energy resilience, and developing core digital technologies.

It will also address targeted actions to reinforce access of Ukrainian researchers to European research infrastructure, boost economic resilience and contribute to a sustainable recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
