The EU-funded project Act!onHeat has launched its first call for applications for technical advisory services. Open until 29 April 2022, it will provide municipalities with support in the development of high quality strategic heating and cooling plans based on the Hotmaps and THERMOS tools, previously developed within the Horizon 2020 programme.
Heating and cooling represent half of Europe’s total energy needs, with 75% still dependent on fossil fuels. To decrease our dependency on fossil fuels and increase the share of renewable energy, strategic heating and cooling planning is a pre-requisite. Yet, not all municipalities have the know-how, the resources and the experience. This is where the new Act!onHeat Support Facility comes in with specific tools and assistance.
Coordinated by the Fraunhofer Institute with the support from eclareon, TU Wien, the Centre for Sustainable Energy, CREARA, e-think and ICLEI Europe, the Act!onHeat project will support municipalities to start, complete or improve their heating and cooling plans based on a newly developed workflow. Applicants will be selected based on their ambition, interest, and needs.
The Call for Application is open until 29 April 2022 via EUSurvey. Two other calls will open by 2023. More information can be found on the Support Facility page.
Act!onHeat started in June 2021 and will end in May 2024. In its first phase, the project has identified success factors for heating and cooling plans, while in a next phase it will support 30 municipalities with pre-feasibility studies for individual projects.
