European Maritime Day in full swing to discuss ways forward in the blue economy

‘Sustainable blue economy for green recovery’ is the topic of the European Maritime Day (EMD) 2022. With 750 participants in Ravenna and 800 online, EMD provides an inspiring framework to discuss the latest developments in the blue economy.

CINEA took part with several activities, including a stand promoting programmes and projects, a pitch session on funding opportunities and women in the blue economy, as well as a workshop on the role of ports in the context of the European Green Deal. All CINEA funding opportunities relevant to maritime stakeholders from the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF), Innovation Fund, Horizon Europe, Connecting Europe Facility and LIFE Programme were presented, along with project results.

Angelo Salsi, Head of the Natural resources, climate, sustainable blue economy and clean energy Department, also spoke at the “EU mission: Restore our ocean and waters” thematic session, underlying the synergies among the different EU Programmes managed by CINEA.

The two-day conference featured high-level plenary sessions, 24 stimulating workshops, 3 pitch stage sessions and several networking activities. This year EMD also hosted the plenaries of the EU4Ocean Summit with 4 workshops, focusing on Ocean and Climate, Food from the Ocean as well as Healthy and Clean Oceans.

The recording of EMD are online along with interviews, highlights from the conference and videos through EMD TV. You can also have a look at the EU-funded projects that took part in EMD 2022.

Rendez-vous next year in Brest, France!
