#EULife22 Info Days: 10 important questions answered

#EULife22 Info Days

From 18 – 20 May, CINEA will hold various virtual information sessions on the LIFE 22 Calls for proposals.

These live sessions will guide potential applicants through the LIFE programme, the LIFE 22 Calls for proposals and priority topics for 2022. To help you prepare, here are 10 questions (and answers) that have come up in previous information sessions.

  1. Who can submit a proposal?

Any legal entities established in the EU or in countries associated to the LIFE programme.

  1. In which language should proposals be?

You can submit your proposal in any official EU language (project abstract/summary should however always be in English). For reasons of efficiency, we strongly advise you to use English for the entire application. Please note that the grant agreement, project management, formal reporting, key deliverables and all communication with the European Commission must be in English.

  1. How detailed should applications be?

Proposals should be as concise and straightforward as possible. Applicants should avoid having overly detailed descriptions of project areas, environmental technologies, lists of species, etc.

  1. Do we need to provide CVs?

No. Applicants should only present the essential details on the main profiles involved.

  1. Can we receive funding from LIFE and other EU programmes?

No. LIFE programme funding must not overlap with funding from other EU programmes.

  1. Can I delete instructions that are redundant such as the ones under ‘Activities’ and ‘Milestones’?

No. All instructions must remain. Please do not delete any instructions in the document. The overall page limit has been raised to ensure equal treatment of all applicants. Removing the instructions may result in your proposal being considered inadmissible.

  1. Should nature project proposals only target Natura 2000 sites?

The implementation of EU nature legislation is a key policy priority for LIFE. However, there is no requirement to include Natura 2000 sites in proposals.

  1. What are close-to-market projects?

Close-to-market LIFE projects aim to bring green products, technologies or services to the market.

  1. Describe Energy Intensive Industries

Energy Intensive Industries or EIIs have high energy consumption and high energy savings potential. Examples include the steel, aluminium, glass, ceramics, cement and chemical industries. We are keen to attract innovative projects from big and small energy-intensive companies.

  1. Where can I get help with my proposal?

The LIFE National Contact Points can guide applicants. Also, the LIFE Units in DG Environment and CINEA can offer advice on project concepts. Please write to CINEA-LIFE-ENQUIRIESatec [dot] europa [dot] eu (CINEA-LIFE-ENQUIRIES[at]ec[dot]europa[dot]eu)
