On 20 and 21 March 2024, the fifth annual R&I Days is taking place in Brussels (Tour and Taxis) and online. The event brings together policymakers, researchers, stakeholders, and the public to debate and shape the future of research and innovation in Europe and beyond.
This year’s R&I Days will give you the opportunity to debate how we can make Europe greener, fairer and more competitive under a common narrative: a 40-year journey through the EU Research and Innovation Framework Programmes.
The R&I Days take place during Research and Innovation Week on 18-21 March, the European Commission’s flagship event on research and innovation. The event will host discussions on the future of R&I, showcase achievements of EU-funded research projects and their impact on our society, and debate the importance of continued investment in R&I.
CINEA will also be proudly on show at the R&I Days Brussels exhibition (Tour and Taxis) with its Horizon Transport CHEK project on display with a booth on 20-21 March 2024.
CHEK: Towards zero emissions shipping
Around 90 % of the world’s goods – from cars to cashew nuts – are transported by sea, making the shipping industry responsible for 3% of global carbon emissions. By investing in green technology, clean air is though on the horizon. The EU-funded CHEK project developed innovative solutions through a combination of new vessel designs and retrofit technologies for existing vessels – including the return of sails.
