CEF Energy: Regulation establishing list of cross-border renewable energy projects adopted

MAP on CB RES tranparency platform

On 17 November, the Commission Delegated Regulation establishing the first list of selected cross-border projects in the field of renewable energy (RES) entered into force. This represents a milestone for the sector as it gives the opportunity to the selected projects to apply for funding under the RES window of CEF Energy.

The list of selected projects contains three projects involving seven Member States that will contribute to the cost-effective exploitation of renewable energy in the electricity and heating sectors and which will be implemented through different renewable technologies, including offshore and onshore wind and solar photovoltaics, as well as through innovative technological solutions such as hydrogen and ammonia production.

In addition, the projects aim to promote cross-border cooperation between Member States  in the RES field while contributing to the EU’s long-term decarbonisation strategy.

The adoption of the Delegated Regulation marks also the launching of two other key elements:

The transparency Platform for CB RES projects is a public information system already available to the general public for consultation. It provides up-to-date information on the geographic location, technical description, implementation and financial support for each of the CB RES projects in the CB RES list adopted by the European Commission.

Users can navigate the maps showing the locations and can check and export the project fiches concerning each of the CB RES project.

By acquiring the official CB RES status and by being part of the CB RES list, projects are eligible for financial support for studies and works under the CEF Energy Programme.

On 8 November 2022, CINEA launched the first call for proposals for Works & Studies for CB RES projects to which the three projects can apply before 23 February 2023.
