Call for expert evaluators for the Innovation Fund

The European Commission is seeking to enlarge the pool of experts to evaluate the proposals requesting funding from the Innovation Fund.

For the Innovation Fund’s second call for small-scale projects, the Commission is calling on expert evaluators and rapporteurs to evaluate the proposals to be received by the call deadline. The experts will have the opportunity to evaluate some of the most innovative and disruptive projects in their sector of expertise as well as contributing to defining the Innovation Fund pipeline of best low carbon innovation projects located in the EU.

In particular, we are searching for:

  • technical experts with experience in one or more of these fields: Carbon capture, utilisation and storage; Industries covered under the Emission Trading System, such as but not limited to: ferrous and non-ferrous metals, chemicals, cement, concrete, lime and gypsum, refineries, paper, glass and ceramics; Hydrogen; Energy storage and cross-sectoral and industrial symbiosis projects; Renewable energy: wind, solar (PV/CSP), geothermal, bioenergy, ocean, etc.,
  • GHG experts in Lifecycle assessment or GHG emissions assessments,
  • financial experts in investment analysis and monitoring, project finance and/or financial advisory in the same fields, and
  • rapporteurs and quality checkers with a proficiency level of English.

Indicative effort required: 2-3 weeks per year (flexible working time, dependent on number of projects).

The Innovation Fund has become one of the major EU instruments for decarbonising Europe’s industry, funded by the EU Emissions Trading System from the auctioning of 450 million allowances from 2020 to 2030, as well as any unspent funds from the NER300 programme.
