Blue Economy and synergies between maritime activities

Recently published the study on multi-use at sea produced by the European MSP Platform

Multi-use at sea. Study by MSP AM (picture).

The implementation of multi-use at sea aims to rationalize space and uses in order to create synergies between maritime activities for a sustainable Blue Economy.

In response to the increasing demands and pressures for maritime space, the benefits of multi-use have been demonstrated by a number of projects.

Yet, the implementation of multi-use at sea is currently facing licencing procedure issues, since these procedures were defined in a sectoral way.

This technical study highlights the existing initiatives and forms of multi-use at sea in Europe and provides proposals to reduce the licencing obstacles for its deployment.

The paper, recently published, has been produced by the European MSP Platform under the Assistance Mechanism for the implementation of Maritime Spatial Planning.
