Upscaling low carbon livestock farming in Europe

Projects and initiatives working around this thematic were invited to join the event. The two LIFE projects organised a networking event titled “Upscaling Low Carbon Livestock Farming in Europe” in Brussels, Belgium. 

The objective of the event was to exchange insights and leverage experiences from past and ongoing European projects related to sustainable livestock production. The collective aim is to identify best practices for dissemination to relevant stakeholders. Projects engaged in innovative sustainable livestock farming or aligned with this theme are strongly encouraged to participate and contribute to the establishment of a network for future initiatives. 

The event agenda comprised an introductory plenary session, five workshops scheduled throughout the day, and a poster session. Participants were invited to select two workshops from the five options available. The final outcomes of the workshops were presented during the concluding plenary session. 

About the LIFE organisers:  

LIFE Carbon Farming: The project aims to motivate farmers to implement strategies for lowering their carbon footprint and enhancing carbon storage in both vegetation and soil. 

LIFE Green Sheep: The project strives to achieve a 12% reduction in the carbon footprint associated with sheep meat and milk production. Simultaneously, it seeks to ensure the sustainability of this production across five EU countries: France, Ireland, Italy, Romania, and Spain.
