Organised every two years, TRA is the foremost European transport event that covers all transport modes and all aspects of mobility. Around 4,000 participants are expected in Dublin for #TRA2024.
TRA gathers stakeholders from all transport networks (road, rail, waterborne and aviation). The event offers a great venue for researchers, decision- and policy-makers, and industry representatives to get together and contribute to the discussion on how R&I can reshape the transport and mobility system. It provides a unique opportunity to hear about mobility trends and challenges in different parts of Europe, learn from achievements in industry, as well as share best practices of policies and deployments.
The format of the event consists of a daily Plenary Session focused on the theme of the day, which will be then developed in three parallel Strategic Sessions. Both Plenary Sessions and Strategic Sessions will be held in the form of a panel discussion facilitated by professional moderators.
Several Special Sessions will be organised by the European Commission and the European Climate, Infrastructure, and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). They take the form of either a typical podium session or panel discussion. The intention is to provide opportunities for scientists and other professionals to discuss and exchange on relevant topics that are not covered by other sessions or events.

Description
Under the overarching theme of “Transport Transitions: Advancing Sustainable and Inclusive Mobility”, TRA will cover all modes of transport: road, rail, waterborne, aviation, and cross-modal aspects. It will include a broad spectrum of R&I activities, ranging from basic research to application-oriented engineering, social, technical and economic aspects, as well as policies and standards.
The event will offer a shared opportunity to forge connections, push the boundaries of what we know, and chart new territories in transport research. It will also provide a global platform for Europe’s achievements in transport research and technology, and give visibility to both national and international transport research.
Who should attend?
The event is open to:
- Researchers, academics, students and young researchers, and engineers;
- Transport infrastructure managers and owners;
- Traffic operation managers, transport operators;
- SMEs and start-ups;
- Industry, vehicle manufacturers and suppliers, ship builders;
- Public authorities, governmental bodies;
- Non-governmental organisations;
- Other transport stakeholders and decision makers.
Exhibition
#TRA2004 will also host a important exhibition area with both static and live demonstrations on the latest transport technologies and innovation.
CINEA will participate in the joint European Commission (EC) stand, which brings together several Directorates-Generals (DGs) and services, including DG Research and Innovation (DG RTD), DG Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE), and the Joint Research Centre (JRC).
Don't miss the chance to meet us, our projects and hear first-hand about our activities, project results and funding opportunities!
A series of lunchtime presentations will be organised at the joint EC stand:
- Monday 15 April: “Towards zero emission vehicles: From batteries to demonstration” organised by CINEA.
- Tuesday 16 April: “Transport policy session” organised by DG MOVE.
- Wednesday 17 April: “Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM)” organised by DG RTD.
- Thursday 18 April: “Digital Twins in transport” organised by CINEA.
