Rubberised asphalt between myths and realities: how to overcome the obstacles

The LIFE SILENT and RE-PLAN CITY LIFE projects hosted a workshop in Rome on 4 December to promote the use of recycled tyre materials in sustainable, low-noise pavements, highlighting best practices in circular economy adoption.

The LIFE SILENT and RE-PLAN CITY LIFE Projects Workshop was a two-day event in Rome designed to showcase the latest innovations and best practices in using Recycled Tyre Materials (RTMs) for creating low-noise, sustainable pavements. On the first day, participants embarked on a technical visit to a rubberised asphalt plant, gaining firsthand insights into the production process.

On the second day, attendees explored cutting-edge research and technical advancements during an international seminar and engaged in a roundtable discussion with experts and stakeholders. These sessions aimed to address challenges and develop strategies for integrating sustainable materials into road construction.

The workshop provided an opportunity to understand the benefits and challenges of rubberised asphalt in transport infrastructure, promote green procurement with Public Administrations, and collaborate on projects aligned with circular economy principles. It also served as a platform to network with European experts, policymakers, and stakeholders committed to sustainability.
