Networking Meeting – Key challenges to upscaling nature restoration in the EU – learning from LIFE experience

The online meeting, held on 20–21 March (mornings only), used the experience gained through the implementation of LIFE projects to showcase and discuss solutions for overcoming key challenges to upscaling nature restoration in the EU.

This online meeting showcased the experience of fifteen LIFE-funded projects implementing ecosystem restoration across the European Union. In particular, the event focused on exploring and discussing successful solutions to three strategic subjects that were key to upscaling nature restoration projects: ‘transfer of knowledge and building capacity’, ‘access to land’, and ‘mobilising other sectors’.

The meeting featured presentations from a broad and diverse range of concrete restoration projects. It also fostered discussions centred around practical solutions for overcoming challenges associated with the implementation and upscaling of nature restoration projects. The event explored how to balance local specificity with large-scale restoration and aimed to formulate concrete recommendations to guide future restoration practices and policy development across the European Union, supporting large-scale restoration efforts in line with the EU Nature Restoration Regulation.

The recording is available on the LIFE Programme YouTube channel.
