Multi-Level Governance: a key to EU climate and energy goals

The event ‘Multi-Level Governance: a key to EU climate and energy goals’, held on 18 March, presented key findings from the LIFE NECPlatform project.

The LIFE NECPlatform project organised a concluding event to discuss the role of multi-level governance in implementing the European Green Deal and achieving the EU’s climate and energy targets. The importance of coordination between national, regional, and local authorities was highlighted, as these levels of governance were essential for meeting the objectives set by the European Climate Law.

Insights from the LIFE NECPlatform project, which had facilitated multi-level dialogues in six EU Member States since 2022, were shared to showcase best practices and solutions for improving climate and energy policies.

Speakers from European institutions, local governments, and climate organisations discussed ways to strengthen collaboration between governance levels. Success stories and challenges from the project were showcased, along with the launch of a new toolkit. The event concluded with a discussion on the role of Climate and Energy Dialogue platforms in shaping future regulations, followed by a networking session.
