LIFE platform meeting on AgriFood - The contribution of LIFE projects to achieving the objectives of the Vision for Agriculture and Food

The agriculture and food sector has recently gained significant policy prominence, with the current European Commission placing it high on the EU agenda. On 19 February 2025, the Commission published its Vision for Agriculture and Food, setting out a framework to ensure the long-term competitiveness and sustainability of the EU’s farming and food sector up to 2040 and beyond, while fostering growth, innovation and wider societal benefits.

This Platform Meeting will highlight how LIFE projects contribute to the implementation of the Vision for Agriculture and Food. It will provide a forum to exchange best practices and explore innovative solutions to the key challenges facing the EU’s agricultural and food systems, including, climate change (mitigation through emissions reduction and removals, and adaptation), biodiversity loss, soil degradation, economic viability and fairness, resource efficiency and food security. 

This event is hosted by the University of Bologna and its IMAGE LIFE project, in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Climate Action (DG CLIMA) and the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA).
