LIFE networking meeting: Achieving clean air for European citizens through the Ambient Air Quality Directive

The online event will bring together European Commission representatives and LIFE projects’ beneficiaries to share best practices on air quality across Europe.

  • Expert meetings

Air pollution remains a serious threat to public health in Europe. The revised Ambient Air Quality Directive sets stricter standards to better protect citizens and improve air quality across the EU.

Despite progress in recent years, air quality limits are still frequently exceeded in many European regions, particularly in urban and industrial areas. Exposure to key pollutants such as fine particulate matter and nitrogen dioxide continues to pose significant health risks.

The recast Ambient Air Quality Directive (EU) 2024/2881 introduces stricter standards, enhanced monitoring and greater transparency for citizens.

This LIFE networking meeting will bring together European Commission representatives as well as a selection of LIFE projects’ beneficiaries, to discuss about success stories in view of the implementation of the revised Ambient Air Quality Directive. The event will focus on best practices for reducing air pollution and on effective ways to inform and engage citizens, while identifying knowledge gaps and providing feedback to policymakers.

The registration is only by invitation.
