Description
The conference was organised by the COST Action CONVERGES and the Plant Science & Biodiversity Centre, Slovak Academy of Sciences. It exchanged knowledge and expertise to understand how riparian ecosystems are studied and managed worldwide.
Two LIFE projects featured over the two-day event:
LIFE WILDisland, which targets the riparian parts of the Danube between its origin in Germany and the Black Sea, was presented on 6 April during the ‘Management and Restoration’ session. Details on the LIFE programme for 2021-2027 and the upcoming LIFE Calls for proposals 2022 was also given.
LIFE Fluvial, meanwhile, featured in a poster presentation related to the Management and Restoration sessions on 6 & 7 April. This project has developed a transnational strategy for the sustainable restoration of Atlantic fluvial corridors in the northwestern Iberian Peninsula through conservation actions and a comprehensive dissemination strategy.
