The 5th session of this year's Conference was hosted by the German government, which currently holds the presidency for this session. This event was poised to mark a significant milestone, as it anticipated the adoption of both the "The Beyond 2020 global chemical and waste framework" and the Bonn High-level Declaration on Chemicals and Waste.
Furthermore, this Conference provided an important platform for deliberating and tackling numerous challenges related to the adoption and implementation of national policies aimed at the secure management of chemicals.
The event anticipated attendance from over 1000 participants, with the primary audience made of governmental officials.
About LIFE ChemBee's participation
The LIFE ChemBee project has been selected to showcase its work in one of the side events hosted within the German Pavillon at this year's Conference. Specifically, the project held a strategic 45-minute slot scheduled for October 27, the evening before the main negotiations took place.
During the session, Aleksandra Rutkowsa, the ecotoxicologist representing LIFE ChemBee, shed light on the far-reaching impacts of hazardous substances on human health and presented two project tools: the Chemical Household-Check and the Check(ED) app. Additionally, the topics of chemicals in articles and the empowerment of consumers was addressed.
