International Congress on Innovation in Atmospheric Water Collection and Environmental Restoration Techniques

This special technical event, promoted by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria (Spain) as part of the LIFE NIEBLAS project and co-financed by the LIFE Programme, was held on 17 - 18 October.

The event aimed to showcase and join efforts in regard to climate change mitigation and adaptation through the development of innovative reforestation and atmospheric water harvesting methods.

LIFE NIEBLAS aims to minimise impact derived from greenhouse gas emissions within environmental restoration projects, increasing their implementation success while reducing costs. As a result, new devices have been developed in terms of fog water collectors improving harvesting capacity while increasing ease of use and deployment versatility.

This congress was structured in several talks, networking spaces, a poster exhibition, a field visit and exchange of experiences.

On Thursday 17 October the conference was held at INFECAR, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with scientific and technical presentations delivered in three blocks. Spaces for round tables and poster exhibitions were provided for all attendees to interact.

On Friday, 18 October, the activity began with a field visit to LIFE NIEBLAS, at Barranco de La Virgen in Valleseco, to learn more about the work carried out and the results obtained during this project. The activity ended with a networking event to promote the exchange of knowledge between projects of different nature enhancing collaboration.
