On 10 December 2025, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) and the European Commission's Directorate-General for Climate Action (DG CLIMA) will host an Info Day on the 2025 Hydrogen Auction (IF25 Hydrogen Auction).
To help interested applicants prepare their proposals, the key features of the auction will be presented. This includes the design and objectives, the application and evaluation process, Q&A, and a ‘lessons learned’ exercise from past auctions to showcase best practices.
During the event, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions via Sli.do using #IF25Hydrogen.

Description

With an estimated budget of €40 billion for 2020-2030 financed from revenues of the EU Emissions Trading System, the Innovation Fund aims to create financial incentives for companies and public authorities to invest in cutting-edge low-carbon technologies and support Europe's transition to climate neutrality.
In 2023, the Commission developed a new competitive bidding mechanism (‘auctions’) to complement its grants. Auctions expand the portfolio of support mechanisms available under the Fund, fostering faster and more cost-efficient support for the roll-out of more mature, low-carbon technologies needed for the clean transition.
The IF25 Hydrogen Auction opened on 4 December 2025. The auction is a key element of the European Hydrogen Bank and is designed to provide cost-efficient support for the production of renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO) hydrogen and/or electrolytic low-carbon hydrogen across the European Economic Area.
The Innovation Fund 2025 Heat Auction Info Day and the Innovation Fund 2025 Net-Zero Technologies Info Day are also open for registration.
